There are no words that come close to what you´ll feel once you are in the presence of this forbidden, magical and mystical canyon.

We drive from Quito through one of the highest Andean crossing points to the Amazon (4,200 mt) and on to the hot springs of Papallacta for lunch. We then continue our journey towards the impressive San Rafael Falls where we hike down for about an hour to a viewpoint spot. On the way we´ll experience firsthand the magic of the sub-tropical forest. We spend the night at the waterfall basecamp.

Today we hike for an hour and a half down to the put-in where our incredible journey down-river begins. After the mandatory safety talk we´ll enter the most fantastic and pristine river you´ll ever see, filled with white cascades that fall into this virgin gorge of incredible primary forest. This is one of Ecuador´s most impressive white water excursions because of its remoteness and unaccesibility. We´ll encounter deers, tapirs, monkeys, macaws, tucans, parrots and herons. These two days will be filled with exciting class IV and V rapids until the gorge opens up and the water becomes calmer.

Once we encounter flat water we begin to float through the primitive villages of the Quechua Amazon tribes in the lowlands of the tropical rainforest. We build a campsite and spend the night with the locals.

We meet our transportation and head back to Quito.
